Pasar Kapasan has long been the commercial heart of the neighborhood, a trading hub that grew up alongside the kampung itself and gave daily rhythm to the community around it; the calls of vendors, the back-and-forth of haggling, the steady flow of goods in and out. By 1941, on the eve of war, the market was modernizing fast: newspaper records from that year describe plans for new left and right wings and a dedicated electricity transformer, supplied by the Aniem power company. The market invested in its own future even as occupation loomed. That same commercial spirit carried the neighborhood through the decades that followed, and Pasar Kapasan remains today what it has always been: the place where Kapasan does its everyday business, a living thread connecting the market stalls of a century ago to the ones still open now.
